Dorsey Fields

May 4, 1947 — April 19, 2023

On May 4, 1947, in New Edinburg, Arkansas, God blessed Luther and Versa Mae Warner with a beautiful daughter, named Dorsey. On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, God said, “Well done my good and faithful servant”, it is time to come home. The beautiful and sweet life of Dorsey Fields came to a close with her family by her side.
Dorsey married her high school sweetheart, Adell Fields, and to their union four children were born. She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly. She was a wonderful cook and made sure they were well fed and taken care of each day.
She was a 1965 graduate of the J.E. Wallace School System in Fordyce, AR. She often talked about some of her classmates and had very fond memories of them.
She was a very humble person and didn’t ask or require a bunch of extra things. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time with her family.
Dorsey embodied the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), the characteristics of a Proverbs 31 woman, and left a legacy of love. She was one of the most faithful, consistent, one-of-a-kind, selfless souls to ever walk the face of this earth.
Dorsey was the eldest of fifteen children and she was a wonderful role model for her siblings. She led by example and was always willing to help where needed. The family enjoyed her cooking and looked forward to the family celebrations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adell Fields, her parents, L.T. and Versa Warner, her children Debra and Gregory Fields, her sisters Alice Warner Weathers and Bessie Cooper, and her brother Cloyce Clary.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include: her son, Kelvin (Ermalean) Fields and Undra Fields of Fordyce; her grandchildren, Undreana Fields, De’Ungela Fields of Maumelle, Ja’ Christopher Childs, Cary Childs, Shanetta Childs of Fordyce; two grandpups, Boo Bear and Bella of Maumelle. A very special daughter, Sharon Belin of Maumelle. Her sisters, Pearline Edwards, Versa Blackmon, Christine Brock, Genece (Marvin) Hardaway, Dorothy (Brian) Sledge of Fordyce, Kathryn (Stevie) Butler of Hot Springs, and Mary (Bruce) Bell of Arkadelphia; her brothers, Silas (Shirley) Warner, John Warner, Leon Warner, Calvin (Juanita) Warner, Raymond (Sandra) Warner and Royce (Renee’) Warner of Fordyce; sister-in-law, Gloria, (Richard) Owens of Benton. She also leaves to cherish her memory three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and an abundance of family and friends who loved and supported her and added to the fullness of her life.
The family will receive friends Friday April 28, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be Saturday April 29, 2023 at Greenville First Baptist Church in Fordyce. Burial will follow at Kingsland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
