Dodson Mccallister

Dodson McCallister, 79, of New Edinburg died Sunday April 20, 2008 at the Bradley County Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1928 to the late Barron and Aline Harris McCallister. He was a retired log scaler at Georgia-Pacific where he worked for 30 years.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail McCallister and a great-grandson, Xavier Laws.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Nell McCallister, one brother Mack McCallister of Pine Bluff; two sons Danny McCallister of New Edinburg, Glen McCallister of Crossett; and daughter-in-law Joan McCallister of Hermitage ; two daughters Lynette Steadman and Spence of Sebring, FL, Joyce Lum of Kingsland; seven grandchildren, Kevin Steadman and Carolyn of Auburndale, FL, Wendy Grice and Bruce of New Edinburg, Kim Bennett and Nick of Kingsland, Krystal Kiker and Bobby of Dawsonville, GA, Shawn Steadman and Crystal of Key Largo, FL, Jeremy McCallister of Kingsland, Lee Laws and Sandra of Kingsland; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Maurice Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Shaun, Jeremy, Lee, Bruce Grice, David Barnes. Honorary Pallbearers are Ted Langford, Jerry Langford, Scott Steadman, Harold Langford.
