Dan Coats, 38, of Camden died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. He was born March 14, 1970 in Norwalk, CA. He was the multi media coordinator for Arkansas Fire Academy in East Camden. Dan may not have been a member of one fire department but he was a member of all fire departments in the Great State of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Leon Coats and Marilyn Jeffers Nance; one daughter, Kimberly Mary Ann Coats; one brother, Doug Coats and grandfather, Bob Lang. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Coats of Camden; one son, Kris Coats of Camden; step-father, Ronnie Nance of Thornton; two brothers, Robert Coats of Arkadelphia, James Daugherty of Malvern; one step-brother, Doug Nance of Camden; one sister, Teresa Allen of Malvern; two step-sisters, Veronica Edmonds of Shreveport, LA, Michelle Raybon of Fordyce; grandmother, Louise Lang of Malvern; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial C/O John Reep 21 Buttermilk Rd Little Rock, AR 72227. Visitation will be Monday October 6, 2008 6pm until 8pm at Dan and Elizabeth's home in Camden. His wife, Elizabeth has requested a full fire service funeral.
