Cora E. Smith

Cora E. Smith, 89, of Fordyce, went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 13, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Smith was born in Fordyce, AR on January 23, 1923 to the late Edgar L. & Ida Shackleford Oliver Carroll Adams. She was a homemaker & a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Fordyce.

She is survived by her three sons, Walter & Vickey Smith of Ivan, AR, David & Barbara Smith of Fordyce, AR, Charley & Alice Smith of Strong, AR; four daughters, Ida & Louis Mattox of White Hall, AR, Bertie (Fran) and Hal Wilkes of Charlotte, AR, Cora Ruth Smith of Fordyce, AR, Ruby L. Smith Fordyce, AR; a special niece and her family, Glenna Faye & David Pou of Chelsea, AL; two brothers, David H. & Mary Oliver of Bastrop, LA, Joe M. & Kaye Carroll of Cape Girardeau, MO; two sisters, Mable Ruth O'Banion of Kingsland, AR, Lucille & Frank Williams of Fordyce, AR; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, & a host of friends & relatives. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her loving husband, W.H. "Cotton" Smith, & infant daughter, Illa Drucilla Smith, four brothers, Otis, Millard, Philip, & Harry Oliver, & two sisters, Frances House Woodson, & Callie Hawk.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, February 16, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church in Fordyce. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, with the Rev. B.L. Blann officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
