Clifton Smith

Clifton Smith, 91, of Fordyce, died Wednesday March 25, 2009 at his home. Mr. Smith was born in Bradley County Arkansas, on September 19, 1917 to the late George & Artie Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fordyce. He was a retired mechanic, welder, 32nd Mason, and he loved to hunt & fish. Mr. Smith also honorably & faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Virginia Lansdale Smith of Fordyce, AR; a son, Sonny Rowe of Fordyce, AR; a daughter, Sherry Leary of Boerne, TX; two grandchildren, Jeremy Rowe of Little Rock, AR, Stephanie Blanks of Hondo, TX; & a great grandchild, Lyston Blanks of Hondo, TX. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneice Ledbetter Smith, & two sisters, Elsie Feaster, & Edna Smith.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday March 28, 2009 at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Stacy Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
