Christopher Lee Hughes, 53, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 He was born March 10, 1961 in Gurdon, Arkansas. Chris was raised on the edge of the forests of Gurdon, Arkansas. His father, Doyle Hughes taught him to fish and hunt in the wilds. His mother, Edyth Long Hughes Hunt and her extended family showed him how much love means through the best and worst of times. His step father, Henry Hunt show him how to be a father.
Chris could wrangle snapping turtles in the Ouachita River, climb tall pine trees faster than any black bear, and shoot straighter than Davy Crocket. He was a woodsman most men would aspire to be. He missed his woodland home and relatives in Arkansas while traveling around the United States working as an Electrical Foreman in a trade he taught himself over the course of various, large industrial projects. During his travels, he met his wife Teena, who were married 16 years. They later retired to Thornton, Arkansas to be close to family and home.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by four daughters, Angela McKnight of Trinity, TX, Amanda Clark of Colorado, Meghan Green of Thornton, TX, Julia Hughes of Manvel, TX; one brother, Pete Hunt of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Tina Hughes of Washington; step father, Henry Hunt of Fordyce; nine grandchildren, Briana and Brandon Guess, Cameron and Candice McKnight, Matrix, Maddox and Mary Jane Clark, Cameron and Conner Green. He will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be 4:00 pm Saturday, February 14 at Gurdon Cemetery in Gurdon, Arkansas. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce, Arkansas.
