Chester Ray Wood, 69 of Fordyce, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was born October 15, 1939 in Moyers, Oklahoma to the late Leslie and Jessie Osgood Wood. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Lela Kaye Smith and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Louise Wood of Fordyce; two sons, Bobby Ray Wood of Dermott, AR and Earl Leslie Wood and wife Rhonda of Hamburg, AR; four daughters, Gladys Hudson of Jersey, AR, Rose Mary McDaniel and husband Bill of Banks, AR; Beverly Penelton and husband Johnny of Monticello, AR, Brenda Lee Wesson and husband Ronnie of Hamburg, AR; three step-sons, Tony Crain of Jersey, AR, Tim Crain and wife Brittany of El Dorado, AR, Tommy O. Perkins, Jr. of Calion, AR; step son-in-law, Terry Smith of Jasper, AR; four sisters, Clydean Lambert and husband Jessie Ray of Hampton, AR, Geraldine Rawls and husband Charles of Wilmar, AR, Ruby Lambert of Hampton, AR, Joyce Ledbetter of Fordyce, AR; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church in Hampton with Rev. Sam Higgs and Rev. Jerry Ables officiating. Burial will be at Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 PM until 7 PM at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Memorials may be made to John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado.
