Chase Hunter Whiteside, age 38, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, February 2, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1987. Chase is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jasper and Maureen (Gardner) Childers, and Boyd and Louise Whiteside; and by four beloved aunts, Vicki, Jane, Mary Gayle, and Willene. He leaves behind his beautiful daughter, Graclin Layne, who was the light of his world. He is also survived by his mother and bonus dad, Renea and Danny Talley; his biological father, Keith Whiteside, and wife Cindy; his brother, Jeremy Whiteside, and wife Cheryl; and his cherished niece Maddy, and nephews Walker and Aiden, all of whom he was incredibly proud of. Chase is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Randy and Phyllis Erwin, who became more like grandparents to him; his half-sister Stacy; and his bonus grandparents, Jim and Charlene Talley. He is lovingly remembered by his first cousin, Michelle Draeger, who is more like a sister. Chase spent time with her and her three boys, Tyler, Brett, and Justin, who grew to be like brothers to him while spending several summers in Wisconsin. He is also survived by many cousins, family and friends who will miss him greatly.
Chase loved the outdoors. Some of the fondest memories of him involve a fishing pole in his hand. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening, and cooking what he harvested. He could fix just about anything he set his mind to and took pride in working with his hands. Watching his garden grow and preparing meals from what he raised brought him great joy. Chase had an enormous heart. He always stood up for the underdog and tried to help anyone he could. Danny and Renea were incredibly proud of the father he had become—Graclin was his greatest joy and purpose. Most of all, Chase loved Jesus. He was deeply grateful for the way God worked in his life and held tightly to his faith. There is a hole in our hearts because we miss him so much, but we will hold onto our memories until the day we see him again.
