Charlene Estes

Charlene Lowe Estes, beloved mother, grandmother and friend entered into rest on July 2, 2009 in Houston, Texas. Charlene was born on October 2, 1930 in Warren, Arkansas to Erwin S. and Lucy Russell Lowe who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, her brother Billy Ray Lowe and husband, Jimmy Ray Estes of New Edinburg, Arkansas. Jimmy and Charlene united in marriage on January 29, 1949.

She graduated from Warren High School. After retiring, she spent the remainder of her life focused on family and friends, but particularly on her grandchildren. She participated in their education and was a constant source of support in all their endeavors. Her grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. As a Mother, she was a blessing from God; she loved unconditionally, a daughter's best friend and the foundation of our family.

Charlene was a Past Matron of Frank W. Lynn Chapter No. 1015, Order of the Eastern Star and Past Mother Advisor, Frank W. Lynn Assembly No. 307, Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She served several terms as Worthy Matron and a faithful and dedicated supporter of Texas Rainbow until her final days.

Charlene lived with a loving and grateful heart, and cast a bright light into the lives of those around her every day. Her warmth and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed but remembered always with clarity and gratitude by those who loved her. Charlene is survived by her daughter, Barbara Estes-Shearer and grandchildren, Jennifer Shearer, twin grandsons, Matthew and Alexander Shearer all of Spring, Texas. Aunt and uncle, James Lee and Helen (Lowe) Mullins of Warren and many cousins and nieces. A memorial service was held July 8, 2009 at Woodland Masonic Lodge in Houston. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 14, 2009 at McCoy Cemetery in New Edinburg, Arkansas. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
