Cecil Waters Dunn

Cecil Waters "Pete" Dunn of Tinsman died Monday, June 30, 2008 in Bradley County Medical Center in Warren. Born February 20, 1917 in Watsontown, near Tinsman, Arkansas, where he had lived for most of his 91 years, he was the son of the late Joseph Waters Dunn and Ruth Ella Watson Dunn.
He was a graduate of Tinsman High School, attended Draughn's School of Business, and was a World War II veteran. He was a former owner and operator of Esso Service Station and was the first owner of the Texaco Service Station, both in Hampton. Most of his working career was spent as a Millwright / Machinist where he worked in several different states. He was then employed by Phelps Dodge Cable Corporation in Fordyce until retirement. He was a Calhoun County Democratic Committee Member, a member of Farm Bureau, a member of the Tinsman Volunteer Fire District, a member of the machinists union, and a lifetime (50 year) member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America union.
He was a member of Whitewater Primitive Baptist Church near Tinsman.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Lula Mae Dunn; a sister, Avris Shook; two brothers, Claude and Neal Dunn, all of Tinsman; and three nephews.
Survivors include one daughter, Janie Reaves and husband Joe of Tinsman; three grandchildren, Tracy Samples of Benton, Joella Jackson and husband Kenny of Tinsman, Jason Reaves and wife Amy of Benton; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica Floss, Shelby Samples, Tiffany and Kolten Jackson; sisters-in-law, Anna Blaylock of Luling, LA, Bessie Davis of Warren; two nieces; and five nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM at Tinsman First Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 1st. Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, July 2nd at Tinsman First Baptist Church with Elder Jerry Evers and Bro. Bill T. James officiating. Burial will be at Watson Cemetery by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
