Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Carolyn Jean Lott, age 70, of Bearden, Arkansas went to be with the LORD Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in her home, surrounded by family. Jean, affectionately known as Meme, was born on October 11, 1940 in England, Arkansas to Dan and Vernie Sparkman. She was married to Atwood Marion Lott on April 15, in Hampton, Arkansas. Prior to her illness, she was employed by General Dynamics where she loved going to be with her second family, her coworkers and friends.
The love of her life was her family. If you knew Meme, you know how much she loved her family and friends. She was always willing to help anyone in need. Whether it be family, a friend, a stranger, or even a stray she found on the road, she was there to do what was needed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Atwood Lott; daughter Deborah, and husband Randy Nance; daughter Connie, and husband Gerald Castleberry; daughter Denise, and husband Jim Thacker; and daughter Rose Pennington. Jean had eight grandchildren who she loved dearly: Jon Nance, Chris Nance, Stephen Castleberry, Mark Castleberry, Bo Thacker, Rodney Pennington, Ricky Pennington, Ray Pennington, and special grandchildren Brooke and Dustin Bowen. She was also survived by her special nephews Ricky, Mike and Teddy Sparkman. Her dogs: Baby, Ginger, and Trixie were her faithful companions.
She was preceded in death by grandson Aubrey Nance, twin brother Dean Sparkman, brother J.D. Sparkman, and sister Ann Rothering.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 23 from 6:00-8:00pm at Benton Funeral Home in Bearden, Arkansas. The interment service will be on Friday, June 24 at 10:00am at Moss Hill Cemetery also in Bearden, Arkansas. Grandson Stephen Castleberry and Pastor Dave Frizzelle will officiate the service.
