Carlton "Wayne" Cathey

Carlton "Wayne" Cathey, 84, of Bearden died Monday, October 30, 2017 at his home. He was born May 3, 1933 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. He retired from the U.S. Army having served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was an honored marksman. He was also a retired truck driver and attended the Hopeville Assembly of God Church. He happily retired to a life of hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Darrel and Pinkney Riggs Cathey. He is survived by his wife and constant companion of 41 years, Irene Cathey of Bearden; three daughters, Sharon (Morris) Nutt of Malvern, Donna (Vester) Thompson of New Edinburg, Cindy (Joe) Gilbert of Bearden; six grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, neighbors that meant so much to him, as well as the love of a very special pet, Trixie. Visitation will be Tuesday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Bethel Cemetery near Bearden with Johnny Johnson officiating.
