Callie Marie Weems, “Callie Jane” as her friends called her, was born January 22, 2001 at St. Frances Hospital in Monroe, LA. She passed over to Heaven on June 21, 2024.
Callie was a member of the Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church and attended both New Edinburg and Kingsland First Baptist Churches. She was a 2019 Honor Grad from Cleveland County School District in Rison where she was a FFA, Beta Club, FBLA, and Archery Club member. She graduated in 2021 from the Practical Nursing Program at SAU Tech, receiving her license in August and starting her nursing career at DCMC, first working night shift before moving to the family clinic in May 2023 to be Dr. Foscue’s nurse. Callie’s first job was a waitress at the Roundtable in 2015 until COVID hit. She then went to work at Kingsland One Stop until graduating nursing school.
Callie had a smile that would light up a room, a laughter that was contagious, and a heart bigger than this world. When she loved you, she loved wholeheartedly. Callie was far from perfect and would argue to the death if she knew she was right. She would call a spade a spade, but easily forgave others and helped everyone she could. She was fearless (expect for spiders). Callie’s greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful single mother to Ivy Mae, whom she loved dearly.
Callie was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Woodrow and June (Hill) Crawford; grandparents, Harland and Charolene (Crawford) Browning and Thomas Henry Weems, Sr., her uncle Chris McHenry, and several friends turned family.
Callie leaves behind her beautiful daughter Ivy Mae; mother, Helen Browning; bonus dad, Bruce Grice; father, Tommy Weems and wife Tess; half-brothers, Chris and Gus Weems; bonus brother, Mitchell Grice; bonus sister, Brandi Shaw; grandmother, Betty Weems; her uncle Danny Browning, aunt Kathy Araguz, aunt Teri McHenry, aunt Connie Weems; great aunt Jetta Sisson, and numerous nieces and nephews, friends who are sisters and brothers, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Huntley, Justin Huntley, Jared Rinehart, Chaz Huff, Blake Hopson, Tyler Collins, Hoss Parnell, and Christian Laws. Honorary pallbearers are James Young, Josh Stewart, Jamie Parnell, Isaac Morrison, Garrett Wayne Williams, and the staff of DCMC family clinic.
