Boyd Lee Allen

Dec 2, 1949 — Jun 19, 2026

Sheridan, AR

Boyd Lee Allen, age 76, of Sheridan, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on June 19, 2026.

He was born on December 2, 1949 in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Cleo Pete Allen and Alice (Reed) Allen. He moved several times while growing up before joining the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Joining the Marines was an important turning point in his life. He often said this experience shaped him and helped make him the man he became. He carried the lessons and strength he gained from it throughout the rest of his life.

After his military service, he built a career as a skilled welder and in mechanical maintenance. He could fix, build, and figure out just about anything. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family.

After he retired from his work, he especially enjoyed spending time in his shop, tinkering on projects and putting his skills to work. He would spend time there with the shop door open, enjoying the outdoors, watching the wildlife around his home, and visiting with those who stopped by. His home was a special place to him. He often spoke about the peace he found there and how much it meant to him.

Those who knew him will remember his love of laughter. He enjoyed making people smile and sharing good times with the people around him. His sense of humor and playful spirit were a special part of who he was and will be deeply missed.

But more than anything, he loved his family. He leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of 58 years, Sherry. He was a loving father to his son, Chris (Brittany) Allen, and his daughter, Wendy (Chad) Hunter. His children meant so much to him, and they loved him deeply in return. He was a proud grandfather to Brayden Allen, Brody Allen, Alexis Allen, Sawyer Hunter, Hudson Hunter, and Wyatt Hunter. His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy and were a very special part of his life.

He is also survived by his brother, Eddie (Linda) Allen; and his sisters, Sherry McElyea, Barbara (John) Osgood, LaJuan Painter and Lori Allen, along with many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ronnie Stringfellow, Danny Allen, David Franklin, and Jimmy Allen; and his sister, Linda Dennis.
