Billie Jean Atkins Johnson, 84, of Fordyce died Saturday September 2, 2017 at JRMC in Pine Bluff. Born August 13, 1933 at New Edinburg, she was a daughter of the late R.D. Atkins and Mamie Barnes Atkins. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and DAR. She was the owner and operator of Jean's Clothing Store until retirement, and was a co-founder of Johnson's Warehouse Showroom.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Glen Ballard; daughter-in-law, Reba Ballard; brother, Donnie Atkins. She is survived by her husband, Max Johnson of Fordyce; son, Kent Johnson and his wife, Terri of Monticello; sister, Wilma Johnson and her husband, John of Fordyce; three grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Kayla Griffin and her husband, Tyler; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Benton Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Bobo and Rev. Lance Hollis officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
