Some people walk through life leaving footprints; Billie walked through life leaving a trail of light, warmth, and the comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal. On September 28th, 2026 at the remarkable age of 95, she peacefully entered the presence of the Savior she loved and served for a lifetime.

Born in 1930, Billie possessed a spirit that was both gentle and incredibly industrious. She famously balanced two demanding worlds with absolute grace. As the dedicated wife of a pastor, she partnered with her beloved husband, Bill, to shepherd, counsel, and to love their congregations. At the same time, she worked outside the home, bringing her great work ethic to the local garment factory and clothing store. She shattered old stereotypes, proving that a woman’s ministry could beautifully extend into both the church pew and the local workforce.

Yet, no matter how busy her days were, her kitchen was a sanctuary. That lady could cook, and if you ever sat at her table, you knew you were experiencing something truly special. She was the undisputed master of comfort food—whether she was frying up scrumptious okra, whipping up perfect mashed potatoes and gravy, or cooking a flawless deer steak, you name it, she could cook it. Her kitchen took center stage during the holidays, where her cornbread dressing was an absolute must at Thanksgiving and Christmas, always followed by her legendary pecan pies and chocolate pies.

If you knew her, you knew she smiled endlessly. It wasn’t a fragile smile, but a deep, radiant joy that came directly from her soul. She simply loved much—she loved Bill, she loved her family fiercely, and she loved the many people she served through the years.

But above all the meals she cooked and the long hours she worked, Billie’s greatest passion was her desire for everyone to know Jesus. Her faith wasn't loud or judgmental; it was a warm invitation. It was woven into the way she spoke, the way she listened, and the relentless kindness she offered to the world. Her greatest final wish was to ensure that everyone she loved would one day join her in heaven.

Waiting to greet her at the gates of eternity is her beloved husband, Bill carrying her legacy of joy, faith, and good food forward are her children, Celia Taylor, Bubba Johnson, Tammie Kattner (Don).

Cherishing her memory are her grandchildren, Shannon Potter (Ken), Tiffany Spivey (Teddy), and Corey Taylor (Summer); Mitchell Grice (Jamie); Lindsey Porter; Ami Bustos (Adrian) along with the greater branches of the family tree, her beloved great-grandchildren, Elin Bradley; Layne and Greyson Potter; Mason Spivey; Luke, Julie, and Matthew Taylor; Jordan Brown; Aiden and Austin Bustos; Maci and Trip Grice.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
