Betty Jean Thompson, of Hampton was born on July 12, 1934 to the late Oscar & Viola Warren in Kilgore, Texas. Betty married the love of her life, Tommy Mitchell on January 7, 1954 in Camden, AR. Betty worked most of her life in Camden and Hampton; retiring from the Calhoun County Judge’s office in December 2016. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hampton. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Betty enjoyed reading, serving in her community; spending time with her family, traveling with friends, shopping and attending her great grandchildren’s ball games.
Betty passed away February 7, 2019, at The Hospice of East Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton Arkansas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Hampton. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of Benton Funeral Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tommy Mitchell, husband Billy James Thompson and her brother Charles Warren.
She is survived by daughters, Donna Thomason (Kelley) of Conroe, Texas, Denise Cruz (Juan) of Tyler, Texas, three grandchildren Scott Thomason (Alicia), Tandi Dean (Jack), Jonathan Cruz, five great grandchildren, Savannah Thomason, Tyler Dean, Brayden Sykes, Hayden Dean, Brooklyn Cruz, one great great grandson, Keyton Butler and a host of devoted friends.
