Bettie Jean Purifoy, 80, of Bearden died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Twin Rivers Nursing Home in Arkadelphia. She was born March 21, 1938 in Sparkman, Arkansas. She was a retired owner and operator of Millville Trucking Company. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Freeman and Katie Sue Hickman Freeman; husband, George A. Purifoy; two brothers, Kenny Freeman and Jimmy Dale Freeman; one sister, Daisy Lamb; one sister-in-law, Louise Hutchens; and one brother-in-law, Mancel Lamb. She is survived by one son, Jerry (Donna) Purifoy of Harmony Grove; one daughter, Glenda (Jesse) Purifoy of Bearden; two brothers, Raymond (Libby) Freeman of Milly, AL, Winfard (Gennie) Freeman of Sparkman; one sister, Billie Jo (Marvin) Selph of Sparkman; one sister-in-law, Jane Freeman of Camden; one brother-in-law, Lawrence (Virgie) Purifoy of Lawton, OK; three grandchildren, Joel Harper of Warren, Jermy Purifoy and Joshua Purifoy of Harmony Grove; and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday at Sparkman First Assembly of God with Rev. Andy Hughes officiating.
