Barnie Paul Turner, 76, of Fordyce died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. He was born March 31, 1934 in Dallas County. He was the owner and operator of Fordyce Church Furniture, a member of First United Methodist Church in Fordyce and was in the Navy during the Korean War. Barnie had also been a fire fighter for the Fordyce Fire Department for thirty eight years retiring as assistant fire chief and was also past president of the Arkansas Fire Chief Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Urban and Lottie Lucille Jacobs Turner. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Turner of Fordyce; one son, Paul Timothy Turner of Carthage, TX; two daughters, Leilani Turner of Ottawa, IL, Debbie Eckert of Conway; one brother, James Turner of Fordyce; one sister, Charlotte Stell of Fordyce; three grandchildren, Larla Grandadam of Ottawa, IL, Sophia Eckert of Philadelphia, PA, Victor Turner of Carthage, TX; one great-grandchild, Katlyn Grandadam of Ottawa, IL. Visitation will be Monday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with Rev. Hammett Evans officiating.
