Barbara Sue Finley

Barbara Sue Pierce Finley, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026. She was 85 years old.

Born on April 13, 1941, she was the only daughter to her loving parents, Arlis Benjamin Pierce and Donna Lee Hedges Pierce. On September 24, 1960, she married Jimmy Albert Finley. Together, they raised their family in Fordyce, Arkansas, before later spending their final retirement years in Batesville, Arkansas. Jimmy preceded her in death on January 20, 2013, after more than 52 years of marriage

Barbara worked as a dental hygienist in Fordyce for over 25 years alongside Dr. Charles Kauffman. Her warm smile comforted countless patients throughout her career. While raising their two sons, she served in her local church of Temple Baptist, instilling values of faith and love in her family.

Barbara was a woman of many talents. She had a creative spirit, spending years woodworking, painting and crafting; even setting up booths at state craft fairs to market her talent. She generously gifted many pieces of her work as labor of love. Over the years Barbara could be found in the family garden, her greenhouse or in the kitchen, cooking delicious meals for her family or the holidays—occasions she treasured deeply.

In retirement, Barbara proudly served on the alumni committee of her high school alma mater in Cushman, Arkansas. She took immense joy in organizing and decorating for reunions, while gathering with former classmates to reminisce about old times. Later in life she could be found scrapbooking and enjoyed working puzzles.

Above all of her hobbies, Barbara’s greatest joy was her family and she leaves behind a legacy of love. She thrived on the laughter, energy, and love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her “Gran”. She is survived by her two devoted sons and their families. Scott Finley and his wife, Shannon, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Stacy Finley and his wife, Candi, of Fordyce, Arkansas. Her legacy lives on through her five cherished grandchildren: JT Finley and wife, Courtnie; Seth Finley and wife, Morgan; Allaynah Pennington and husband, Ethan; Jake Finley and fiancee, Meredith, Pierce Finley and fiancee, Lily. She was also the proud great-grandmother of: Addison Finley, Beau Finley, Winslow Finley, and Caroline Finley.

Barbara will be laid to rest 10:00 a.m.Tuesday July 14 beside her husband and parents at Barnes Cemetery in Batesville, Arkansas. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.net.
