Amelia Ruth "Mickey" Bryant

June 17, 1934 — May 21, 2018

Amelia Ruth "Mickey" Childress Bryant was born on June 17, 1934, in Cleveland County, Arkansas. She was the middle child of Madison and Ruthie Mae Burks Childress. While attending school at New Edinburg, she met her one true love, Billy Bryant.

She and Billy married on July 24, 1953, and began their life long journey together. The mother of three children, Mickey was a dedicated daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, and Christian. She helped care for her ill mother-in-law and Billy's uncle for many years. While attending Smith Chapel Church of God, she served in many roles for over 60 years including song leader, Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, active participant in the Women of the Church of God, vacation Bible school, and other. As it is said, "If the doors of the church were open, she was there".

Mickey is predeceased by her parents; a brother, Freddy Childress; a sister, Catherine Childress Langford; and her son, Joe Michael Bryant.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Billy Bryant of New Edinburg, daughter Barbara Reaves (Tim) of New Edinburg, daughter Lea Ann Price (Coy) of Maumelle, and daughter-in-law Terry Bryant Gullett & spouse Freddy of New Edinburg. She leaves eight grandchildren: Daniel Bryant (Jennifer) of New Edinburg, Matthew Reaves (Brandy) of Jena, Louisiana, Emily Weeks (Ryan) of East End, Will Reaves (Rachel) of Kingsland, and Christopher, Olivia, Anna, and Collin Price of Maumelle. In addition, she is survived by eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends.

Pallbearers for her service will be her grandsons, Daniel Bryant, Matthew Reaves, Will Reaves, Christopher Price; and her nieces' husbands, Keith Cheney, Roger McClellan, Dean Bowen, Ronnie Garlington, and Butch Wilson.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6PM until 8PM at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services are 10AM Thursday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, Shane Matthews. Music will be provided by Brenda Bryant. Burial will follow at Smith-Morgan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gideon's (PO Box 216, Rison), Smith-Morgan Cemetery (c/o Paula Searcy, 1400 Highway 8, Kingsland), or Smith Chapel Church of God (50 Morgan Road, Kingsland).
