Alta Elvis McMahen, 86 of Kingsland, died Monday, August 20, 2012. He was born November 20, 1925 in Walkerville, Arkansas to the late William McMahen and Mattie Short Griffin. He was in the Marine Corps during World War 2 and served at Iwo Jima.
He is survived by his son Barry McMahen of Texas; daughter Sharon Harker of Kingsland; granddaughter Stephanie Rogers and husband James and their children Wes and Ethan all of Fordyce; grandson Joe Harker and wife Carla of Fort Worth, Texas; and granddaughter Carla Gail McMahen of Phoenix, Arizona.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 10 AM Wednesday at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock with Rev. Stacy Reed officiating. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
