Alma Blaylock Smead, 91, of Hampton died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St. John's Place in Fordyce, Arkansas. She was born February 28, 1922 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of Tinsman First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was active in Tinsman E.H.C.; and was an avid quilter winning many awards over the years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Blaylock and Polly Butler Blaylock; husband, Horace Smead; three brothers, Eugene Blaylock, J.D. Blaylock, O'Neal Blaylock; and two sisters, Margie Smead and Christine Starnes. She is survived by one daughter, Gail Owens of Hampton; one brother, Charles Blaylock and wife Nelda of El Dorado; one brother-in-law, Norman "Slick" Smead of Little Rock; two grandsons, Mickey Owens and wife Shannon of Hampton, John Owens and wife Chelsey of Parkers Chapel; four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be Friday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Tinsman First Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Burton officiating.
