Allie Willierene Tipton Garrett, 83 of Fordyce died Monday July 1, 2024. She was born November 5, 1940, a daughter of the late Willie F. Tipton and Eloise H. Ballard Tipton. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Thornton.
She was a longtime member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. She loved the Dallas County Fair, canning, quilting, watering her plants and feeding the birds, and cooking for family and church events. She was also known for restoring the Mary Mays home in to the “Big Pink House”.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Johnny “Mickey” Garrett of Fordyce; a son, Johnny Allen Garrett of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Gretchen Morgan of Greenbrier and Priscilla Southall and her husband, Pete of Greenbrier; a brother, Greg Tipton of Dubach, LA; nine grandchildren, Colton Morgan and his wife, Emily, Allie Morgan, Garrett Morgan and his wife, Shelby, Bailey Morgan, Madelynne Southall, Morgan Southall, Mia Beth Southall, Mickey Southall, Magnolia Southall; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Pippa Morgan.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. To sign the online register visit
