Alice Elizabeth Matthews

Alice Elizabeth Matthews, 85, of Tulip died Monday, November 28, 2016 at her home. She was born March 1, 1931 in Thornton, Arkansas. Alice was a retired telephone operator for Allied Telephone Company and a member of Tulip United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Abner Harper and Effie Turner Harper; one grandson, Brick Ables; one granddaughter, Jacquline Ables; four sisters; one brother; two sons-in-law, Marvin Harrison and Ron Wylie. Alice is survived her husband, George "Bo" Matthews of Tulip; one son, Jay Ables and wife Carol of Tulip; two daughters, Jeri Harrison of Thornton and Karen Wylie of Tulip; one brother-in-law, Phil Matthews and wife Betty of Tulip; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Botsford and husband Larry of North Little Rock and Paulette Harper of Fordyce; eight grandchildren, Andy Amason and wife Joy of Benton, Seth Wylie of Tulip, Paxton Wylie of Donaldson, Matt Harrison of Thornton, Jayce Patch and husband Jesse of Collierville, TN, Jordan Ables of Tulip, Daniel Harrison of Thornton, Erin Rinehart and husband Dick of Tulip; and eight great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Tulip Cemetery Association PO Box 184 Leola, AR 72084. Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be Thursday 2:00 p.m. at Tulip United Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Tulip Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
