A.D. Livingston

November 22, 1918 — June 15, 2008

Rev. A.D. Livingston, 89, of Fordyce died Sunday June 15, 2008 at St. John's Place in Fordyce. Born November 22, 1918 at New Edinburg, he was a son of the late John D. and Minnie Atkins Livingston. Brother A.D. was converted in 1943 and surrendered to the ministry in October, 1949. Bro. Livingston has been in the ministry 58 years. He led in the organization of three churches: Chapel Hill Baptist Church in New Edinburg, Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland, and Temple Baptist Church in Fordyce. Bro. A.D. pastored Bethel No. 1 Baptist church in Rison two different times, Immanuel Baptist Church in Camden, Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in Hope, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Chickasaw, AL, Hazel Street Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, West Race Baptist Church in Searcy, and Pine Crest Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. Bro A.D. was featured in "Look Magazine" October 1958. He served as a full-time evangelist the past 14 years. He preached in over 700 revival meetings in 14 different states. He conducted over 200 weddings and over 400 funerals. He was a Master Mason, Shriner, and Eastern Star member. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John Elmer Livingston and Jack Livingston. He is survived by his wife, Mary Livingston of Fordyce; daughter, Lois Ann Hart of Bryant; four sisters, Irene Lindsey of Wills Point, TX, Theda Childress of Fordyce, Anita Livingston of Little Rock, and Janice Brown of Little Rock; four nephews, Ronald Marks, Eugene Lindsey, Jerry Marks, Larry Brown; niece, Judy Kirkley. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church in Fordyce with Revs. James Ray Raines, Arlis East, and Mike McEuen officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Elba Cemetery.
