Stephen Keith New “Jackhammer” went on to be with our Lord Friday, October 8, 2021 at his home. Keith was born June 27, 1955 at Baptist Memorial in Memphis, TN by John B. and Gloria H. New. He is preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents and his father John B. New. He is survived by his wife; Theresa Huddleston New of New Edinburg, whom he married on June 8, 2019; his mother, Gloria New of Rusk, TX; one older brother, David Chase of Rusk, TX; one younger brother, Timothy Scott New and his wife Cindy of Jacksonville, AR; one sister, Laura New of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Jennifer Holguin and husband Joseph and Christina Durgin, both of TX; one son Nicholas New and wife Christina of TX; multiple precious grandchildren and a special step-family, Hope Knoedl ,Cole Knoedl and daughter, Amelia “Mia” Knoedl and Jacob (Dominic) Veorster. He was a 32 degree mason. He served in the National Guard from August 1976 until August 1983. He was ranked Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge. He went to Henderson State University. He worked at Georgia Pacific in Fordyce from January 1979 until July of 2010. He then worked at CADC for five years. He enjoyed traveling, photography, and geocaching. He has an amazing love for life and never met a stranger. The family will decide on a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
